  • Rugby Club Luzern and the ‘’Luzern Honey Badgers’’ look forward to welcoming the Swiss Touch Rugby community to the beautiful city of Luzern on Sunday 23rd August for the first Swiss Cup of this extraordinary year

  • Touch Rugby Luzern is only in its 2nd season as a fully fledged Swiss touch rugby club and we are very excited (if also a little nervous...) about hosting you all at this fantastic tournament

  • We hope that this information pack provides you with everything that you need to know prior to the event - but if we have missed something, then please don’t hesitate to get in ‘’touch’’

 

  TRAVEL AND PARKING

ADDRESS

Best option for SatNav is the following:

  • Hallenbad Luzern, Zihlmattweg 46, 6005 Luzern

BY CAR
  • A2 Exit Luzern-Kriens or Luzern-Horw

BY TRAIN
  • Kriens Mattenhof or Allmend/Messe
    (approx. 4 mins from Luzern HB)

BY BUS
  • Bus no. 20 to Zihlmattweg (approx. 11 mins from Luzern HB)

PARKING
  • Limited parking available at Allmend Süd 
    (see P6 and P7 on map)
  • Better option is at Sportgebäude Parking, next to Hallenbad Luzern (Zihlmattweg) - 5 mins walk

SPORTING FACILITIES/SERVICES

  • Details on draw / playing schedule to follow from Touch Switzerland
  • Mix of grass and astro-turf pitches
  • Changing rooms, showers, drinking water are available
  • Medical / physio services will be available throughout the day
  • Shade is limited during the day, so it is advisable for teams to bring their own tents / gazebos if sunny conditions


FOOD AND DRINK

  • Pallino’s restaurant on-site will be open all day and they will also provide a grill / drinks stand //www.bocciodromoluzern.com/restaurant.htm
  • Shell garage (Migrolino), Nooch (Thai) and McDonalds are all within 5 minutes walk

  COVID-19 MEASURES


TOUCH SWITZERLAND / HOST CLUB

  • Contact details of all players, coaches and officials recorded prior to the event
  • Applicable Kanton Luzern COVID-19 protocols will be followed https://sport.lu.ch/
  • Sanitising stations will be set up at the venue
  • Match balls will be sanitised regularly throughout the day
  • Further information will be provided from Touch Switzerland, together with the draw / schedule

 

COMPETING TEAMS

  • Teams are asked to bring their own sanitising spray (1 bottle per team) for their own use and are also recommended to wash hands regularly throughout the day in the changing room area
  • All players are requested to have installed the SwissCovid app and to check it post-tournament

 

 

SPECTATOR ALTERNATIVES

In case your friends and family don’t want to watch touch rugby all day, there are plenty of attractions in the nearby area to keep them busy for part of the day:

  • Luzern old town (4 mins by train to Luzern HB)
  • Luzern Hallenbad (5 mins walk)
  • Horw Badi (5 mins - Bus 20)
  • Winkel Badi (10 mins - Bus 20)
  • Luzern Transport Museum (25 mins - Bus 20 to HB then Bus 24, 8 or 6)

 

 

POST TOURNAMENT WARM DOWN

 

A Sunday tournament and, potentially, a long journey back, aren’t ideal - but if you have the inclination, we would love you to join us right next to the pitches at Pallino’s restaurant and beer garden, to begin your post tournament recovery!

For any of you that want to make a night of it, the day’s secondary sporting event, the UEFA Champions League Final, will be on screen, kicking off at 21:00
