Introducing Our New President

With Tom stepping down after a successful and devoted tenure as Touch Switzerland President, it’s now time to welcome our next one: Jennifer Hinam. After being unanimously voted in at our recent AGM, Jen is set to preside over Touch Switzerland for the exciting year coming up, and hopefully many more to follow.

Jen has been part of the TS family for a long time, serving many roles both on the national and international front. At club level, Jen was previously president of the Zürich Geezers, and has been a leader of the club both on and off the field since she joined them over a decade ago. Although it may not be widely known, she was jointly responsible for the creation of the Swiss Cup, Switzerland’s premier touch competition, which came about under her direction during her time as Events Manager. Most recently, she managed our Mixed Open team this past August as they competed at the European Opens Cup in Italy.

On the field, Jen’s resumé is no less impressive – she’s recognised as being one of the most experienced and accomplished touch players in Switzerland. Her international career began in 2008, where she played for the Swiss Mixed Open at the European Championships in France. Since then she has played in numerous Euros and 3 World Cups, in 2011, 2019, and 2024. Since 2008 she has racked up an impressive 70+ caps for Switzerland, picking up a World Cup bowl bronze medal (2011) and a Euros bronze medal (2023) along the way.

We have no doubt that Jen will hit the ground running as President, and her new title is more of a formalization of all the work she’s been humbly putting in behind the scenes for Touch Switzerland the past couple of years. Jen’s sincere kindness, strong work ethic and seemingly unwavering positivity has been and continues to be a vital presence in our community, and we look forward to watching Swiss Touch grow at both grassroots and at the top flight level under her leadership.

An Enormous Thank You to Tom

At our recent AGM, held on 29 November in Bern, we marked the end of an important chapter for Touch Switzerland as Tom Pulles stepped down after four impactful years as President. As we mark this transition, it is with immense appreciation – and no small amount of pride – that we reflect on what Tom has helped build.

Under Tom’s calm and composed stewardship, Touch Switzerland has gone from strength to strength. The domestic game has grown in both quantity and quality, with more players and referees involved than ever before. On the international stage, Switzerland has enjoyed unprecedented success, earning three bronze medals across two divisions at European Touch Championships in recent years, as well as a remarkable fourth-place finish at the 2024 World Cup.

A familiar and committed member of Zug Touch, Tom is also an enthusiastic presence in the refereeing community both domestically and internationally, often alongside his two daughters, Bibi and Lilou, who are forging their own impressive paths as players and referees.

Tom’s openness, friendliness, and ever-present smile have shaped our community as much as his leadership has guided it. And while he may be stepping down as President, we know that he’s not going far, and we’re delighted that he will remain actively involved in the community he has contributed so much to.

Thank you, Tom!

📅 Sunday 27th April 2025 (all regions)

Each region will organize its own intraregional competitions, with the exact format, locations, and days (Saturday or Sunday) to be decided and confirmed by the Regional Leads. Players can expect a minimum of 80 minutes of game time at each regional event. Players will register individually but must be a member of a Touch Switzerland club within their region.

National Women’s and Men’s Finals (Challenge Trophy)

📅 6th and/or 7th September 2025

Towards the end of the summer, each region will select players into one or more women’s and men’s teams to represent their region at the National Finals (Challenge Trophy). Team selections and any training sessions will be coordinated by the Regional Leads. The final venue and day (Saturday and/or Sunday) will be announced by Touch Switzerland as early as possible.

Festival of Touch

📅 12th – 13th July 2025

Back for its second year, Festival of Touch is two (half-)days of touch competition and an evening social event—all in a fun and relaxed environment. It’s open to all and runs independently of the regional team structure outlined above.

As with last year, players will be invited to register individually into a draft and will be assigned to teams before the competition—so anyone can join in! Look out for more information coming later in the spring.

Get ready for an exciting season. We’ll see you on the field!
